Notes:
Blue Lace Agate is a rare and visually stunning variety of banded chalcedony, a microcrystalline mineral belonging to the quartz family. Highly sought after by mineral collectors and jewelry artists, it features a distinct pattern of delicate, wavy bands of pale sky-blue and white that closely resemble fine lace fabric. Geologically, these beautiful layers formed over millions of years as silica-rich fluids slowly filled cavities in volcanic rock, and its signature natural pastel color is structurally caused by the Rayleigh scattering of light. While the benchmark, world-renowned source for this crystal is the Ysterputs Mine in Namibia smaller deposits also exist in countries like South Africa, Brazil, India, and the United States. Measuring a 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, it is durable enough for everyday jewelry making, such as earrings and pendants.
