Collection: Aquaprase

Aquaprase is a rare, naturally colored bluish-green variety of chalcedony discovered in Africa in 2013 by gem explorer Yianni Melas. Officially recognized by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in 2015, this unique stone owes its vibrant, tropical ocean-like hue to trace amounts of chromium and nickel within its chemical structure. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, making it highly durable for fine jewelry. Unlike many other commercial gemstones, aquaprase is prized for being entirely natural and untreated. Its appearance can range from clear, translucent candy-like turquoise to specimens heavily features with an earthy, brown-and-white rock matrix that mimics the look of waves crashing against a shoreline.
