Collection: Elisa Mine
The Elisa Mine (often spelled Eliza) is a notable copper and gemstone mining operation located in Sonora, Mexico. It is widely celebrated in the jewelry industry for producing beautiful turquoise that spans from classic sky blue to unique teal and warm green tones. Because turquoise is a byproduct of the primary copper extraction at the site, the stones get their distinct coloration from the natural chemical reactions between copper and local water sources. Gemstones from this now-closed mine frequently feature striking black, brown, or green host-rock matrix patterns running through them. Because natural raw turquoise can be soft and chalk-like, the material harvested from Elisa is typically stabilized with clear resin to give it a glossy shine and ensure it is durable enough to be cut into premium cabochons and jewelry beads.
