Collection: Little Chalchihuitl

The Little Chalchihuitl mine, located in the historic Cerrillos Hills of New Mexico, is a privately claimed turquoise deposit renowned for its distinct and limited yields of vibrant green turquoise. This rare green coloration is caused by an abundance of iron in the stone’s chemical structure, making it highly sought after alongside the more traditional sky-blue variations of the region. Maintained by registered claim holders Todd and Patricia Brown, the mining operation requires arduous "cut and relieve" hand-labor to carefully trace loose, winding veins through the natural earth. The rough material extracted from Little Chalchihuitl is subsequently cut, shaped, and polished by the family.
