Collection: Phosphosiderite
Phosphosiderite is a rare and captivating phosphate mineral composed primarily of hydrated iron phosphate. It is highly prized by collectors and crystal enthusiasts for its distinct orchid-purple, lavender, and deep violet hues, though it can also occur in shades of pink, yellow, brown, or even colorless varieties. Its name is directly derived from its chemical composition, combining "phospho" for phosphate and "siderite" from the Greek word sideros, meaning iron. Typically found as an alteration product in iron- rich pegmatites, phosphosiderite is relatively soft, registering around 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs hardness scale.
